On a hot afternoon there just isn't anything better than sweating in your hot apartment that your boyfriend thinks should be kept shut up in order to "keep the cool air in". (That would work EXCEPT there ISN'T any cool air to keep in and a breeze is better than stagnant air that is creating waves in front of you as it rises to the upstairs in the box oven he has created...)
However, second to that, a pool is pretty nice on the GFK hot summer days. I took a stroll yesterday down to the pool to meet up w. a friend and enjoy the refreshing water and warm sun. I am not much of a swimmer myself; when I was a kid I swam 3 times a day in the summer and was chastised for having green hair due to the massive amounts of chlorine my basically white hair was up against. I never understood how the girls at camp would accuse me of being dirty when they buried themselves in the sand when we were suppose to be playing volleyball...
Anyway it was hot enough I decided to take a dip amongst the schools of children splashing around and fighting over foam boards. My friend and I were casually mentioning when we'd last been to Elks pool and she just off-hand mentioned that last time she was there she had to leave fairly abruptly. I thought this was a bit strange..she then went on to say that she was quickly turned off to swimming that day when a kid took a duce in the pool!!! Here I am standing in a public pool after basically not swimming for 2 years and I hear that there is a chance one of these kiddos has taken a shit in the water at some point this summer? Well lets just say it was about time to get out.
Feeling a bit vulnerable we decided to go down the slide? Not sure the reasoning on this other than there wasn't a line and no one was watching...they were probably all wondering if they should take a dump when no one was looking. Anyway we get down the slide into this new pool and its pretty shallow so of course it feels warm..and I just feel like I'm swimming in pure urine. Uh public pools, just when you thought you were relaxed...I think I'd rather bake in the sun.
